FAQs
Q - How does the order process work for made-to-measure items?
A - The production of each garment usually takes between 8-12 weeks, depending on the size of the order and the production waitlist. Naturally, orders with more garments (e.g. a skirt, bodice, sleeves and a veil) will take longer to produce than single items (such as a bodice only). Upon selecting your desired piece, you will be directed by the website to a measurement form. Please note that orders cannot be placed until all your measurements have been entered into this form. Precise measurements are ESSENTIAL for producing an accurately fitting garment, so please do take your time to double check your measurements carefully before confirming the sale. When you have finished entering your details, you will be able to proceed to the payment of your order
Once payment has been received and the order confirmed, you will be allowed 24 hours for ‘change-of-mind’ refunds.
Finally, once your garment has been made, you will receive an email with photos of the completed order for assurance of quality prior to shipping. Please bear in mind that shipping times will vary across countries. To avoid disappointment, I suggest placing your order as early as you can, and certainly no less than 4 months prior to your wedding date.
Q - All your skirts and bodices are sold separately - why is this?
A - Skirts and bodices are listed separately to provide maximum flexibility to the customer to mix and match pieces to create their own unique design as they prefer. This also has the advantage of allowing multiple future wears for the garment. For example, a bride may wish to wear her bodice again at a later date after her wedding, but styled with jeans, or dress pants, or whatever she prefers!
All bodices and skirts ordered together have hook and loop closures sewn into the waistband to attach the top to the skirt to ensure a seamless fit. When worn together they look indistinguishable from a complete dress.
Q - Do you offer refunds?
A - As I am a sole-trader creating each garment from scratch as a made-to-measure item for a single individual, I am unfortunately unable to offer refunds and all sales are final from 24 hours after an order is placed. My business offers handmade couture items, and as such I do not keep or sell ‘stock’. Once the order is placed and confirmed, only then do I begin the pattern making process and sourcing materials etc. Each item is made for one customer alone and cannot be refunded or exchanged for another. I thank you in advance for your understanding of this.
Q - How do I care for and launder my garment?
A - Given the delicate, handmade nature of the garments, please use extreme care when washing and laundering after wear. I recommend washing skirts by hand using a mild, gentle detergent, and laying flat to air dry. For bodices I recommend to spot clean only on problem areas with a damp washing rag or baby wipe. As tulle may become crinkled during shipping/transportation, I highly recommend going over the skirts thoroughly with a fabric steamer before wear. You can steam garments yourself at home with a retail model steamer, or alternatively take them to a dry cleaner to have professionally steamed.
Q - Can I customise/change the design of a garment?
A - If there is a design you like but would wish to have altered (for example, adding appliqué lace to a veil, changing the length of a train, adding more layers to skirts and so forth) please don’t hesitate to contact me prior to placing your order at elvierosecouture@gmail.com and I will see what I can arrange for you. Prices for custom orders will vary depending on the nature of the request.
Additionally, for brides based locally in Sydney, Australia, I am happy to offer completely custom designs at request, with in-person consultations & fittings at my home studio, located in Northmead. Opting for this service means we can work together one-on-one to create a completely unique gown tailored to your exact taste and specifications. For enquiries about this custom couture service, please contact me at elvierosecouture@gmail.com
Q - What is the cost of shipping?
A - As postage costs have already been factored into the price of each garment, I am pleased to offer complimentary world wide shipping on all items
